The Jamaican Black Castor oil has an ash content in it which has been said to promote better absorption into the scalp, but it can cause irritation, due to the high ph/alkalinity levels. The process to create Jamaican Black Castor oil is not as natural as the cold pressed castor oil. What it comes down to is the Ricinoleic acid content, which is about the same between the two. The antioxidants in castor oil also support the keratin in hair and help make hair stronger, smoother and less frizzy.
