Cycling For Life!

I began my cycling adventure a few years back and it has been an amazing journey. I have gained so much from just getting out and acting like a kid again. Mentally and physically, it has been absolutely amazing, as cycling is such a freeing activity.

It all started a few years back as I had purchased a Hybrid bike at an estate sale. I didn’t know much about bikes at the time, but I had heard of Trek and knew that they were a great brand. I was able to pic this bike up for under a $100 and it was in ridable condition. Mind you, it sat in my garage for a year before I even really looked at it. I had an old… vintage Schwinn World Sport sitting in the corner as well. I kept seeing a good friend sharing his riding exploits on fb and decided that I would contact him and ask to join the fun. He was more than happy for me to join and the journey began. I was able to do 12 miles my first trip out. It was a workout, but I felt great. The next trip out ended up being 20 miles and I thought that I was going to die. I asked myself WTH was I doing and why would I do this to myself? After I recovered and spent much needed time in a massage chair, I got back to it. I found out that another friend was an avid rider and I joined him on a quite a few runs. We rode over 800 miles for the year. I had my first wipe out, first 40 mile ride and many more firsts.

Proud Moments
I had the fortunate pleasure of registering for the Great Cycle Challenge. I pledged to ride at least 250 miles for the month of September to help raise funds for Children’s Cancer Research. It was an awesome experience and I look forward to riding this year!

Whether you are just begriming or an avid rider, enjoy, be safe and keep your eyes out for more on this ever growing and fun journey!
